Crafting rooms require different stats depending on what's being crafted. Each room has its own preferred stat - Strength for power, Agility for food, Perception for water, Endurance for Nuka-Cola, Intelligence for medical supplies, and Charisma for attracting new dwellers via radio. In the Vault, a room's residents' stats determine how fast it operates. To get the sturdiest possible dwellers, don't level them up at all until you've trained up their Endurance and given them the best +E gear you can find - ideally, Heavy Wasteland Gear, +7E.
